What a Hoot: An Owl Documentary

USA | 2023/2024

Role: Director, Editor

Runtime: 12 Minutes

A documentary covering the owl species of Southern Georgia. Following Eric Swanson, a naturalist at Oatland Wildlife Center, he showcases the owls home to Oatland along with covering what humans can do today to protect owls from accidental deaths and permanent injuries.

I directed and edited this for my Environmental Filmmaking class taught by National Geographic director and writer, Kevin McCarey. Endlessly thankful for him believing in me when making this documentary and helping me with several of the steps along the way during production.

What a Hoot, was selected and written up by Short Films Matter in during the beginning of January 2024 and even shortlisted for their yearly awards for all short films that qualify.

The documentary can be viewed at Vimeo here.
